Friday 18th April – Windsurf **** The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny.

Foil – 17.24 knot max, 15.20 knot ave., 10.95 knot hour, 14.91 knot mile, 29.11 km., 9.94 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

After a fanatstic few days down in Devon visiting the Grandson we drove back yesterday arriving around 10 so were pretty knackereed especially as it had been pretty full-on while we were away but with two breezy days forecast I was keen to get back on the water. With a SE here at Felixstowe which is onshore making it ideal for cruising up and down the coast and with low just before nine I was keen to get down fairly early to make the most of the sunshine and to get a parking spot in Squiz lane especially as its Good Friday! After a quick breakfast I arrived at the beach at 9.30 paking easily, annoyingly the flood gate is closed so I had to climb ove but the foil boad was quickly set-up, there looked a good breeze out to sea and I nearly rigged . but luckily I went for 6.5! By the time I was ready to launch the breeze had dropped but I set-off anyway, there were a few waves rolling in which didn’t cause a problem and it was fairly lumpy once out. The session started slowly with not enough wind, I had a couple of floundering rruns down to the pier before the breeze increased enough to pump up on the foil! I then spotted two foiling kite surfers sailing up from Kite Beach near the golf course so followed then down to the end of landguard beach where they landed, after waving I tacked and had a mega near 4 mile run down the The Dip before flying all the way back to the Orwell once more! I was getting knackered so had one more run down past the pier before calling it a day, nice to be back on the sea doing long runs along the coast, the only downside was when I hit a fish right in front of the Manor Martello tower and went in over the front! As I was packing up fin sailor Andrew Twinn went out with 7.5 and also had some cracking long runs close to the shore:) So a few water users out today, sea anglers on the beach, two kitesurfers, 2 sea kayaks, some jet bikes and the part time lifeboat did a drive past! Then home nice and early to see how Mag was getting on and she had fun in the garden which is bloom’n lovely at the moment, she is chuffed that her water butts are full, first decent rain in Felixstowe for many weeks. The after lunch it was off to Lidl, we know how to live!
